Author's summary of the text:
The topic of this paper is the father’s role in children’s early literacy
development. Mothers have generally been the focus of research
suggesting father’s increasing involvement in infant care and early
literacy development. This shift in father’s increased participation in
children’s reading and writing development has positive implications
for social change that include familial, educational, and public policies.
Various strategies are recommended that teachers can use to
encourage father involvement in children’s literacy growth and
development.
